In-plane magnetic field-driven symmetry breaking in topological insulator-based three-terminal junctions

Topological surface states of three-dimensional topological insulator nanoribbons and their distinct magnetoconductance properties are promising for topoelectronic applications quantum computation. A crucial building block nanoribbon-based circuits three-terminal junctions. While the transport on a planar boundary is not directly affected by an in-plane magnetic field, orbital effect cannot be neglected when confined to nanoribbon geometry. Here, we report magnetotransport such We observe dependence current with steering pattern state towards preferred output terminal different field orientations. demonstrate that this originates from effect, trapping phase-coherent in legs junction opposite sides breaking left-right symmetry transmission across junction.
